What we offer...

All of our courses (with the exception of house lets) are staffed by members of our experienced and qualified group of instructors. A planned programme of activities is created in collaboration between the visiting group leader and the Head of Centre, making full use of the abilities and aspirations of both the visiting staff and students. All activities on the timetable are run using Buckden House's own risk management strategies.

Each residential course will have all relevant safety equipment provided, as well as waterproof clothing and appropriate footwear as required. Some day visitors will be required to bring their own outdoor clothing and footwear (depending upon constraints of time and programming), but all safety equipment, including emergency kit for the activities to be carried out, is provided as a matter of course.

All residential groups have full use of the centre's professionally maintained minibuses for the duration of the working day. Most courses do not require groups to provide their own transport once they have successfully reached Buckden, until the day of their departure. Evening transport, using the centre minibuses, can also be arranged in advance at extra cost.

Every residential course has access to common rooms and educational resources, as well as the majority of the gardens for free time and evening activities. Access to the Village Hall for country dancing, talent shows and the like can be arranged in advance for most weeks of the year.

Buckden House will take bookings throughout the year for:

  • midweek and weekend activity courses for school and youth groups
  • study breaks and seminars
  • day visits for team building and adventurous activities
  • skills training and guiding in caving and mountaineering
  • house lets
